Aspen Tank Testing Round Up!

Third times the charm right? 😜 Each time I start a new pattern it’s gotten much easier. However, I still made a ton of mistakes. It’s all part of the process, I guess. Yesterday I launched the Aspen Tank pattern! I named it after my sister-in-law, Aspen. I think this top will look so adorable on her! When things slow down I’ll make her one and mail it to the east coast! Or maybe she’ll get the sewing bug and try it out herself (πŸ˜‰ at her if she’s reading).

This pattern is a super easy sew: the Aspen Tank is a flowy tank pattern that features a bodice yoke that hits slightly above the bust with a slight racerback. This pattern also comes with the option to add a fun and flirty cap sleeve and an option to extend the shirt to a dress length! It’s also perfect for that soon-to-be mama with a growing belly!

Getting started I ran into a bunch of hiccups! I had a few super excited testers that started early and caught some pretty big issues that I was able to fix before most of the testers started. I always feel like I check things through but after you’ve looked at something so much you get blind to any issues!

I ended up changing the sleeve pattern piece and some wording. My sizing ended up being much bigger than my previous patterns and most testers ended up sizing down one size. I fixed that for the final pattern! One major thing we found through testing is that fabric makes all the difference. Those that sewed it up in a basic quilting cotton felt that the gathers were not flattering, but when they changed the fabric it made all the difference! Overall I’m super happy with the pattern and I had the most helpful testers!! I’m so thankful for the sewing community!!

Check out all the tester versions!!
